Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom; get insight: do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you.

Wisdom is “the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight”. And, as the writer of this chapter of Proverbs notes, wisdom is not something we are generally born with. It’s something we acquire both from other people and from our own experience (often, by making mistakes).

This passage has me pondering the areas in life where I could use the counsel of other people. Who are the people with such “wisdom” to be gleaned, who also have a Christian worldview? There are times when the wisdom of faith is different than the wisdom of the world.

Heavenly Father, none of us is born with wisdom, but we all need it. Give us grace to seek wisdom and find it. Place the right people in our path that we might learn from them. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
