Scripture: Psalm 39:7 “And now, O Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you. 8 Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the scorn of the fool.”
Observation: King David writes this psalm while in a difficult situation – of his own making. His sin has gotten him in trouble and there is no way out. His only hope is in the mercy of God.
Application: There are consequences in life. We might get by a few times, but if we continue in sinful ways, it will catch up with us. Has happened to me many times, as I expect is the case for you as well. Question for you and me today: Where might we be continuing in sin, thinking we’ll get away with it? Are we willing to repent of that sin today, receive the forgiveness of God, and go forward freed from sin? We have a choice today sisters and brothers. Which choice will we make?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give us grace to choose life rather than death – right living rather than sin. You are our only hope. Amen.
