Scripture: Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.
Observation: The psalmist has described throughout Psalm 119 his commitment to keeping to the will and ways of God. The ordinances of God give life. They are his strong tower and protection. No other people of ancient times had a gift like the word of God. In our verse for today the word is described as a light showing us the ways we should go. Or not go.
Application: Ever feel like you’re flying blind? I know I do. There are times in life when I’m just not sure which way to go. I can ask other people for advice, which is sometimes helpful. But there are times when others really can’t help. Either they don’t understand my situation or they’re just as inexperienced as I am. It can be like the blind leading the blind. Which is why it’s so important for us to seek the Lord daily by reading his word. God’s word will never lead us astray.
Question: Where in life are you feeling a bit lost? Unsure?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, our entire world will one day pass away, but your word will never pass away. Give us grace to seek your will by diligently reading your word. And when we’ve received your guidance, give us wisdom to follow it. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
