Psalm 27: 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!
As is true for many psalms, this one is attributed to King David. I find it interesting that David is effectively writing this verse to himself. Faced with formidable enemies, fear is a natural response. So he tells himself to “take courage”. But there’s something else. It’s that four-letter word. Wait. Wait for the Lord.
What are you waiting for today? What is the thing in your life which only God can bring about? It seems impossible, and for mere mortals like us, it probably is. But nothing is impossible for God. I’m trying to remember that today.
Lord, teach us to wait upon you. Give us grace to keep hope alive in the meantime. Amen.
