Psalm 132: 13 For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation: 14 “This is my resting place forever; here I will reside, for I have desired it. 15 I will abundantly bless its provisions; I will satisfy its poor with bread. 16 Its priests I will clothe with salvation, and its faithful will shout for joy.
In David’s day it was understood that God resided in a specific place – the temple in Jerusalem (Zion). When Jesus ascended to heaven and sent the Holy Spirit, God became present in the hearts of all believers. In essence, we are the new Zion. V.15 says, “I will abundantly bless (Zion’s) provisions.”
Today is Thanksgiving Day in the US. It’s a time to gather with people we love, enjoy a good meal, share in blessed fellowship… maybe watch some football. But today what comes to my mind are the people for whom I’m so grateful. God has indeed blessed me with abundant human provision, including many of you. Friends, co-workers, family members. I thank God for you and pray I might bless you as you bless me.
Thank you dear Lord. I’m an incredibly thankful. For everything. Amen.
