Love…

Standard

Song of Solomon 1: 2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine, 3 your anointing oils are fragrant, your name is perfume poured out;  therefore the maidens love you. 4 Draw me after you, let us make haste.

I love this book of the bible! People are motivated in life by many things – religion, lands/property, revenge, justice, prestige/power, and so on. This book reminds us that one of the main drivers of human behavior is… romantic love. In these verses a young bride speaks of her desire for her bridegroom.

Love is truly one of the greatest gifts God has given to us. That said, love can be a source of both great joy and great pain, sometimes at the same time! My three children are young adults which means they’re dating around and learning what romantic love is about. It’s great to see them so happy when getting to know someone special, but it’s also painful to see them get their hearts broken. Joy and pain. I’ve had both in my life for sure – thankfully much more joy than pain.

Heavenly Father thank you for the gift of romantic love. It’s one of the things that makes life truly worth living. I want to especially lift up today those who are without romantic love right now. Help them connect with that special someone you have in mind for them. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
