Psalm 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

I’m drawn to v.9 this morning, reminding me that God spoke creation into being. V.6 of this chapter says “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made”. God’s word is a generative, creative force that accomplishes God’s will on earth. This has been true since the first of creation. It’s this word of God which is described in the words of the prophet Isaiah “My word… will not return empty but will accomplish that which I purposed.”

When we read the Word of God we are the recipients of this same living, generative, creative Word. God is doing a work in us. Making us new. Lord, let it be so. Amen.
