Faith in action…

Standard

Hebrews 11: By faith Noah, warned by God about events as yet unseen, respected the warning and built an ark to save his household; by this he condemned the world and became an heir to the righteousness that is in accordance with faith. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to set out for a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; and he set out, not knowing where he was going.

Both Noah and Abraham are mentioned in this passage as examples of faith. God made promises to them and they acted on those promises long before there was any visual evidence the promises would be fulfilled. Later in the book of Hebrews we are told this “faith” on the part of Abraham was credited to him as “righteousness”.

Righteousness, adhering to the will and ways of God, seems like an impossibility to me. My sin always gets in the way. But faith seems more accessible: trusting God for what seems impossible. This morning I’m wondering where in my life the Lord is inviting me to express faith through action toward what may appear impossible. Lord I believe, help my unbelief. Amen.
