Psalm 30: 6 As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” 7 By your favor, O Lord, you had established me as a strong mountain; you hid your face; I was dismayed.
The idea here is that the psalmist (King David) got cocky. Things were going well and he was giving himself the credit. But then David was humbled. It was only then he realized his prosperity had been a gift from God who “had established me as a strong mountain”. David was not the strong mountain, God was the strong mountain. It took a season of adversity for David to remember.
Lord many people are struggling today, humbled by adversity. By your grace come to our aid that we might give you all the glory. Amen.
